#30.1: Ride, Cowboy, Ride - 8 Seconds Ain't That Long

Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.  ~Author Unknown

Ride, Cowboy, Ride is Baxter Black's newest book and a Christmas gift from Sister. Now look at him, of course he is an excellent writer, poet and cowboy humorist.....you can tell by the wicked awesome mustache! If you have ever read a Baxter Black book, this one will not disappoint. If you haven't read any of Black's work....get your rear on Amazon.com!

This book gives us the lives of a rodeo cowboy, his rodeo cowboy/wannabe cowboy poet and lady bronc rider accused of trafficking endangered species bird feathers. Cooney Bedlam is infatuated with Pica, but can't seem to not make a complete fool of himself in front of her. When she is accused of trafficking bird feathers. Cooney and traveling partner Straight Line set out to save her reputation, prove Pica's innocence, win the National Finals Rodeo and of course......get the girl.

A couple of my favorite lines and scenes from the book:

"You're not stuck," she said sternly, thinking he was delusional and imagining he was still in the water. Then it hit her like a shot of schnapps right out of the freezer! Stuck to the tailgate!

"Well, " said Lick, "I've done dumber things than that. Less, what's your plan?"
"DONE DUMBER THINGS THAN THAT?" WHAT A GREAT RATIONALE TO EMBARK ON A TRAIN WRECK.
COONEY IS THE ONLY ONE WITH AN UNSELFISH MOTIVE, ASSUMING LOVE IS UNSELFISH MOTIVE, WHICH I DO. IT IS A MOTIVE STRONGER THAN EITHER OF THE OTHER TWO. THERE IS A PLACE WHEREIN THEY CAN SAY, "YOU KNOW IT'S NOT WORTH IT." BUT NOT WITH LOVE. YOU CAN'T WEIGH IT, MEASURE IT, SCORE IT, EARN IT, DESERVE IT, STOP IT, BUY IT OR SPEND IT. TRUE LOVE JUST IS, AND ONLY THE HEART OF THE LOVER KNOWS IF ITS TRUE.
And I went to school with his daughter's husband, so we are practically best friends.
