I believe

I believe in God and I know I should go to church, but I don't. I don't like going by myself and I usually have activities on Sundays....lame excuse I know, but its what I've got for you right now. My usual Sunday activities include something like fishing on the lake, basking in the Sunday being surrounded by God and all that he created. Its peaceful, its fullfilling and its humbling. I can't help but stick up for myself and my decisions to not attend organized church services when I'm at the lake on a peaceful Sunday morning. pedaling my heart out on my little bike......outside in the fresh air and sunshine....seeing the sights that can't be seen from the highway. I can't help but look off the top of the mountain and be thankful for the health that God has given me, the ability to be active and be able to enjoy the beautiful world that he has created. hanging on for dear life on the ski lift.....fresh air and sunshine, its rejuvenating to be greeted b...

Who I want to be

Image
Over the past few months I've learned a lot about who I am and who I want to be. The revelations have come from some very unexpected people and circumstances. Its been stressful, its brought tears and laughter and its been stressful......did I mention its been a bit stressful? And that I'm very thankful for those who have shown , not told me what kind of person I am and continue to strive to be. Although I don't do it often, as in I should go more, I spent some time at Hastings the other day. You just can't beat the rows of books, waiting to tell you a story, surrounded by the warm smell of coffee and its quiet! I ended up picking up a devotional book by Joyce Meyer. Joyce Meyer is a favorite of the Assistant Pack Leader and I decided it was high time I tried one out. Because I've been struggling so much with being strong, standing up for myself and making changes in my life over the past few months what better to help me along than Power Thoughts Devotional ? A...

Soul Food Friday Country God

Grab the button, link up and share what feeds your soul! In a world that is so fast paced, running from activity to activity. Someone always needing something from us. Cell phone ringing and buzzing with text messages. TVs blaring in the background. Doing less with more. Eating dinner on the go or not eating dinner at all. Sometimes all I need is 2 seconds to pause, to breathe, to look around at God's creation and know.....simplicity feeds my soul. I don't always feel like I have enough of it and I have to remind myself to keep it simple often, its the simple things in life that really mean the most. The Cowboy's Prayer Oh Lord, I've never lived where churches grow.             I loved creation better as it stood         That day You finished it so long ago             And looked upon Your work and called it good.  ...

It's God's country

Image
When I moved there it was so hot I was fairly certain it wasn't God's Country, but everywhere I went I heard "Welcome to God's Country" by the time I graduated and it was time to leave, I was sad to leave God's Country. Even when we start to question how and why horrible things such as the huge tornado that hit Moore Oklahoma this week, God is there and there is not a doubt in my mind that God is in Oklahoma, the day the tornado hit, the weeks of recovery and reconstruction and until the end of time.   As I watch the news and look at pictures from Oklahoma, I can't help but think back to 1990 when I had just recently finished 1st grade. It was June 6, 1990, my parents had dropped us off at Lynn and Lisa's so they could go celebrate Dad's birthday. When we came out from the crawlspace, scenes that I see on the tv were before my very eyes. Luckily, in the Limon tornado, fairly new warning sirens were credited with saving many lives, givi...

What to do with my life?

After a week filled with sad and negative events, I once again began to question my life path. Where am I going? Am I being who I am supposed to be? Am I doing enough to help others? As I was stalking  reading other people's blogs yesterday, I found a post on the you version bible app for smartphones. Now I am one of those "weirdos" who bypassed the iPhone for the droid (which I love and would make the same choice again and again and again!), but I always wonder if they have that app for droid. Droid has it and its free! which is good because I don't even know how to pay for an app because I like free stuff. Anyway, through the you version Bible app you can sign up for various reading plans, which I did. I just started the ReThink Life: 40 Day Devotional. Not only will it get me to reading God's Word, but also will get me to thinking about different aspects of my life to make sure that I am making the most of the life that God as given me. Some of my favorite...

WILW: rams & colts

[Linking up with Jamie at This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday ] I'm LOVING ....... these Super Bowl commercials. You might have to pause the awesome tunes to get the full effect of these commercials!   My first Dodge was a 1/64 scale red single cab Ram 2500. It sat on my dresser when I was 16. My second Dodge was a red single cab Ram 2500 circa 1994 and it still sits in my driveway. I love Dodge and I love this commercial. These are the people that makes the world go 'round. Thank God for farmers and ranchers. Ahh....freaking cute and I love how it shows how close man and animal really can be! Hands down, Dodge's God Made a Farmer nailed it, but Budweiser's Brotherhood commercial is running a photo finish second in my book.

Angels above us

Last night I had a crazy dream A wish was granted just for me It could be for anything I didn't ask for money Or a mansion in Malibu I simply wished, for one more day with you One more day One more time One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied But then again I know what it would do Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you First thing I'd do, is pray for time to crawl Then I'd unplug the telephone And keep the TV off I'd hold you every second Say a million I love you's That's what I'd do, with one more day with you One more day One more time One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied But then again I know what it would do Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you Leave me wishing still, for one more day Leave me wishing still, for one more day Well, in the past year  we've said goodbye to four great people on my mom's side of the family. Our family has come together to laugh, cry, ask why, remember and honor more times than one...

#15.1: Far-away friend: TC

Image
This is Far-away friend TC, he is one of my favorite guys in the whole, wide world! I heart him very, very much! TC and I go back a ways....all the way to Gunnison, CO. TC and I were Sunday church buddies, Sunday breakfast burrito buddies, drag the hay meadows partners in crime, late night dialers, and all around there whenever we needed each other. TC is getting married in August and I couldn't be happier for him and his new wifey-to-be, Shelby. I will be southbound 35 via the big bird in the sky to celebrate the both of them and I.CAN'T.WAIT. And, how freaking adorable are they????? I love this kid and God definitely gave me a friend that I need and named him TC. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TC!

There is a God

Everyday I watch/listen to the news as I eat my breakfast, get dressed and otherwise get ready to trot off to my place of employment. Everyday this week I've stopped to listen about the funerals and memorials honoring all the kiddos and brave adults whose lives were cut short last week in CT. I've heard people ask "Where was God when this happened" He was there. So was the devil. As we start to try to heal from tragedies such as this one we must remember what is important, what kind of values do we want to pass on to our children so that they may pass them on to theirs someday. Hold them tight, love them, discipline them, teach them respect of others as well as themselves and remember there is a God, we just need to believe, serve and trust. Try and put your arms around the 100 year old tree Climb up on a horse and let it run full speed Take a look out at the world from 30,000 feet on your next flight Watch a flock of birds against the morning sun ...
