life rivited - finished project

Image
Its been a long time coming, but I can finally call Franklin complete (as if these types of projects every really end?) Its been hours of work, lots of money (I still haven't added it up, I just don't want to know) and there is no way in hell that I'd ever completed this project without the help of The Retired Guy! He's the best general contractor ever!!!! Meet Franklin! Click here for a video tour!

[life riveted] building

Building inside an Airstream is much harder than I thought it would be....I knew there was curves and it would present a problem, but I was under the illusion that he was straight for a little while before his shell started to curve. Well.....straight for a little while (in an Airstream) mean approximately one inch. Its a good thing we had the top hand (pictured below)....oh and The Retired Guy, affectionately known as The Project Manager. The Project Manager maintains that he has nothing to do with design, but he strayed into the design every now and again. Franklin felt HUGE after we tore everything out of it and I got a little carried away with what all we could actually fit back into him. We started with a twin bed with lots of storage. We salvaged some of the Airstream original roller drawers and added some under bed storage.   Next we tackled the barnwood walls.....to which I say if I never tear another pallet apart in my life that may be too soon.....B...

I finally met the love of my life at the ripe old age of 33.... Wilson, a 1972 27' Airstream Overlander. 1972 Airstream Overlander, Wilson Well, let me clarify, he WAS the love of my life....until we gutted him and found all his problems, which have me a little overwhelmed. I did one thing right before acquiring Wilson, I hired The Retired Guy to be my project manager. The pay is terrible, but when you get to be a part of something so great as Wilson apparently that becomes a minor detail. Music Man was also hired as the Assistant Project Manager. With their help, I'm sure I will love Wilson again! Here's what we had to work with when Wilson arrived to the 307. Gutted Anxiety. and Xanax. That is where we are. I shall call this one "gutted anxiety...

all memorable activities should get a t-shirt

Image
When we planned our girls wine weekend , it only seemed right that we have matching shirts. So I designed some....that were a hit and even got me orders that had to be sent back down to Palisade. Like any good t-shirt there was a map of our route on the back and a fun reminder of what we hoped to accomplish on our trip. Check 'em out! Last  year at our Golf Bonanza...which has now been re-named. I decided that we really did need shirts commemorating the annual event. I wanted to put the golf course on the back, but had a terrible time finding a picture suitable for screen printing. But my dream came to life this year when Assistant Pack Leader was able to doctor the photo from the scorecard to make it useable. So this year I present to you.....Annual Shank-o-potamus all day golf shirts. I really see a bright future for me in t-shirt designs! Place your order now before my designs become a hot commodity!

The annual all day golf trip to Fossil Island in Kemmerer, Wyoming. We decided to go earlier this year because the last 2 years we have golfed in cold weather.....all day. Fossil Island has an amazing fall golf special, all you can golf with a cart for only $25! The bad news is Pizza Hut in Kemmerer doesn't deliver to Hole 7. We played 33 holes and had a great time! I can't hardly wait until next year's annual trip. And this time we will be armed with our team t-shirts that are in the works as we speak!

HomeMade: Kitchen

Image
The kitchen was probably the biggest makeover in this house. It took a long time and I had ALOT of help. As in they did most of the work and I played the part of the 'assistant'. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here we go! Good riddance tiny, crowded, dark, ugly kitchen!

[Sweetwater Series] And they're off!

Pre-game at my house complete with Mint Juleps, good thing The Retired Guy and Ma brought some Bud Lights. I can honestly say this was worse that the margarita contest concoction that I came up with. It was the worst drink I've ever had and I followed the recipe exactly. At least there was plenty of jalapeno poppers to take away the taste. The races started out with me picking a long shot, who came out of the gate weaving....he was a long shot for a reason. Throughout the next few races it became quite clear that I didn't have any beginner's luck. Conversations followed like this: "Jen, you can't just pick horses, you gotta have a reason why you pick them" "I do have reasons" "Well how come did you pick 1,7,5?" "Well, 1 has an OSU orange bridle, 7 has a cool name and 5, well I just like him" "Jen, who are you betting on this race? I want to make sure that I don't pick them" "Hey! You better watch i...

[Sweetwater Series] Hunting camp

Image
Last week was the week, I headed to hunting camp. As much as I enjoy a good week-long camping out/elk hunting trip, antelope hunting has inched higher and higher on my list of favorite gun activities. And here's why It's warm More likely to tag something Easier on the out-of-shape-factor It's warm Hunting camp includes mattresses and pillows...at my house It's warm Because I'm a procrastinator, I waited until the weekend before hunting season opened to make sure my gun was still sighted in....and it wasn't. 6 shots and I wasn't even on paper, in the next 6 I got it dialed in and my arm felt like it was going to fall off. I decided to take a break and come back the next day. We were right on track! Only to find out that it was no longer sighted in on opening day. :( It was a hunting disaster, I had a couple of shots which I proceeded to miss quite big. I was so upset with myself, thinking it was just me. We headed back to the range and sure e...

HomeMade: Make this house a home

Image
I moved to Rock Springs and bought my first house in 2009! Exciting, I can pick my own paint colors. I bought my house in foreclosure and it had a few projects (and a few that I wasn't expecting). It definitely a work in progress and I'll blog about each room as I get it finished. Fair warning, I'm not that great at finishing projects so some of them might be closely followed with a 'my first sale' blog. And no, I don't see that coming too soon. This the the picture that I thought I had of the outside of my house.  See I told you I was bad at this picture thing......I thought that I might take one before work in the morning, but its super cold and all snowy and icy and I just don't think my house would look as joyful as it does when there is green grass and green trees. Maybe another day you will get a picture of it :) Some of the changes that I'll eventually be blogging about include: total kitchen remodel new paint all around new blinds all...
