2015 [final review]

Image
1. 12 months, 12 massages (12/12) 2. Yearly savings goal Totally did not make this one....as in not even close. I did spend my whole vacation fund on a downpayment on the trip of my lifetime , so that is something......right?   3. Territorial Prison Museum 4. Glow-in-the-dark Golf Tournament 5. Soldier's Angel *Angel Tree* I adopted 2 senior citizens and 1 kid this year. I have so much fun with the Angel Tree every year and this year was no different.  6. Goal Weight It took me a while, but I'm finally there. Operation maintenance has now begun. I'm motivated and I'm excited about the "new" life I have! 7. Complete Les Mills Pump 8. Mountain Bike Trip 9. Maui, Hawaii 10. Palisade Wine Biking Tour 11.* Donate 100 Charity Miles (111/100) I'd say I did pretty darn good this year! I added one goal, changed one goal and didn't make only one goal, I'm chalkin' it up as a win! Goodbye 2015 and bring ...

bikes, boos & booze

For some reason this year I really had the urge to get some Halloween decorations and dress up. Since I don't really have any friends to go out to the bar with and I wasn't sure what other opportunities I would have to dress up , I decided to take matters into my own hands. I bought a really giant spider, a spider web tablecloth, a flickering orange porch light and invited some people over for a Booze and Boos Bash. Since most of my friends ride bikes and the fall weather has been incredible....it was amended to "Bikes, Booze and Boos", luckily one of the trails at the Wilkins Peak Trail System is called "Better Than Dead"....could it fit any better? Unfortunately the weather did not fit. The wind was blowing about 40 mph and the ride was cancelled. Pinterest helped me nail some party food and decorations.....although most would probably sufficiently serve as the "NAILED IT" variety. My costume was a big fat question mark for a whil...

2015 [third quarter update]

Image
1. 12 months, 12 massages (8/12) I'm a month behind schedule, so there will be 2 on the schedule in October! 2. Yearly savings goal Lots of room for improvement here............... 3. Territorial Prison Museum 4. Glow-in-the-dark Golf Tournament So, so glad to finally check this one off the list! It was on my very first Dirty 30 list. It was cold and we didn't win, but we sure had fun! Next time hotel rooms will be in order though. 5. Soldier's Angel 6. Goal Weight 7. Complete Les Mills Pump 8. Mountain Bike Trip I had a wonderful time biking in Kansas...who would have known there would be such a great mountain bike trail in Kansas of all places. It was my highest mileage ride at that time and I am so happy my friend Patterson joined me for some biking! We might have to make it an annual trip! 9. Maui, Hawaii 10. Palisade Wine Biking Tour 11.* Donate 100 Charity Miles (111/100) I topped over 100 miles before the end of summer. I'm sure I w...

mountain biking in kansas

Switchgrass EPIC mountain bike trail  Sure sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it!? I was presently surprised by an Epic mountain bike trail that can be found just a few miles off of I-70....and on my way to my friend's wedding. And for the record, although there were only 2 of us, when he lived in Wyoming he was part of the mountain bikers so I'm counting it as my trip with the mountain bikers this year for the 2015 goals! Steve liked catching critters...I screamed when I about ran over this one! We met in Wilson the night before, he coming from the east and me from the west. We stayed at the historic Midland Railroad hotel, it was super cute and the food and beer sure hit the spot after traveling all day. Crossing the tracks, Wilson, Kansas Then the next morning we headed out to Wilson Lake to hit the trail. The trail consists of stacked loops for a total of 24 miles. I was so excited to ride 24 miles as that would be the longest ride I'd ever done, but ...

tower rock 10K 2015

Image
Everyone has told me how beautiful Sheep Creek Geological Loop, south of Manila is. Most people would get in their vehicle and drive it to get the confirmation that they need.....me? nope. I sign up for a 10k to confirm that yes, I do need to drive the whole thing at a later date. Tower Rock We will recap that I ran a half marathon back in October and I have ran a total of about 6 times since then....including a couple 5Ks, a few mini miles with the kiddos, and a 5 mile training run with Colorado Transplant Friend. So, yeah, I signed up for the 10K instead of the 5K....for scenery purposes of course. At the top, ready for the start. Colorado Transplant Friend and I ran the 10K while Music Man ran the 5K. I finished 8th in my age group and only walked a tiny bit. These old lady hips, knees and ankles don't take the pounding of running without training too well. Proof of Life: Before and After

glow golf

Even though I'm about 2 years too late, I'm whittling away on some of the items that were on my original Dirty 30 list. And somehow, these are making me the most happy because I didn't give up on them just because I missed them on 2 years worth of "bucket lists" Note to self: add glow sticks and extra jackets to the golf bag for night golf! This year Music Man found us a glow-in-the-dark golf tournament before it actually happened! Alabama Boy and Uinta Girl golfed with us. There were prizes for first through 4th place and last place. Uinta Girl and I thought we might have a chance at last place, but turns out we are better than last place, yet not quite good enough for a prize. Average, mediocre....yep that's us! Music Man and Alabama Boy though....2nd place and new Taylormade putters! Alabama Boy and Music Man with their trophy putters! Alabama Boy and Music Man....at about 130 AM Uinta Girl and Almost Gypsy Soul.....freezing! I pla...

'til the cows come home

Every year there is a string of weeks that hits Sweetwater County. The National High School Finals Rodeo is the first to hit Rock Springs. There are thousands of high school kids and their horses coming to the area. As soon as they leave, PRCA cowboys come to town for the Red Desert Roundup and as that winds up the Sweetwater County fair fills the following week.....that's a whole lotta activity. One of my favorite things that the town does is cow sponsorships. Businesses can buy a cow, decorate it how they want and display it around town throughout the month of rodeos and fair. There of course is a contest, for the most popular cow. This year I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at some of my favorite bovines that can be found around Rock Springs. And I of course missed getting a picture of my other favorite, so until next year these will have to tide you over! Joe's Liquor, smallest bar in Rock Springs Fotos by Jenni Wyoming Financial

1. 12 months, 12 massages (6/12) I missed May so I had to get 2 in June....darn. 2. Yearly savings goal Lots of room for improvement here............... 3. Territorial Prison Museum A little hidden gem. Our tour guide was wonderful. I hope that they are able to find additional guests, donations or grants to help restore and keep this place up. It would be a shame for it to become unsafe and lose this historical museum. 4. Glow-in-the-dark Golf Tournament 5. Soldier's Angel 6. Goal Weight I made it! and I've now set a new goal of 5 more lbs. I've started working with a nutrition coach to help me meet my goals and develop a food plan that I can stick with in a maintenance, lifestyle plan. It was a struggle, but so far its really helped me. 7. Complete Les Mills Pump I LOVED this program and am probably going to keep with it for a while longer before shipping it down to CO for Assistant Pack Leader to give it a try. 8. Mountain Bike Trip 9. Maui, Hawai...

wyoming territorial prison museum

This one was on the original Dirty 30 list (and the whole reason behind the birth of this blog) and I finally got it crossed off the list! I was presently surprised at the museum. Its a very interesting piece of Wyoming history and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Its in Rawlins and its not expensive to visit. And because I can't remember everything they told me, I copied a little history about the prison from their website for you. The eighty year history of Wyoming’s first state penitentiary, now known as the Wyoming Frontier Prison, is as colorful and elaborate as the plot of a classic western movie. The cornerstone of the prison was laid in 1888, but due to funding issues and Wyoming’s notorious weather, the doors wouldn’t open for thirteen years. In December of 1901, the prison opened and consisted of 104 cells (Cell Block A), no electricity or running water, and very inadequate heating.   Throughout the prison’s operation, ...

This Beachbody program is AWESOME! Its a rep effect, weight training based workout that is killer. Think 5 minutes of squats, 5 minutes of chest, 5 minutes of deadlifts/cleans, 5 minutes of biceps, 5 minutes of abs and 5 minutes of lunges. If you are now things OUCH, you are right on track. The good thing about this workout is that it goes pretty quick and the music is awesome fun. I even really liked the yoga and ab workouts. My results from LMP were pretty good and I was pleased. I've now loaned the program to Assistant Pack Leader, but I'll be doing this one again! So without further ado....proof of my results from LMP. I give LMP 2 thumbs up!

Uncork & Un-Wined

Girlfriends, wine and fruit country of Palisade, CO and our bikes....what more could a girl ask for you might ask. Well in our case sunshine would have been nice. We found a weekend we could all get away to Palisade to bike the vineyards and we were off. Mother Nature was off too and it rained all weekend. Luckily we were traveling with awesome girls and we just made the best of it. We still visited wineries and checked out some local hotspots. We had a good time and darted to some of the closer vineyards in between rainstorms. So although we didn't make the route on our bikes....I'm counting it because I'm not sure when we will all be able to make it back. Plus my biked liked its new Dakine tailgate pad and I actually unloaded my bike in Palisade so it totally counts. And our shirts were a HIT. I even brought home orders for others....I should start a business.

I can't believe we are almost a quarter of the way through 2015 all ready! Time flies when you are having fun they say. 1. 12 months, 12 massages (3/12) I'm well on my way to meeting this goal. I've even surprised myself at how much benefit I've felt from regular massage. I've all but given up the chiropractor and my back, neck and legs feel much better. I truly believe that massage is a great addition to a healthy lifestyle. 2. Yearly savings goal Not going so great since Loretta came to live with me......better get back on track on this one. 3. Territorial Prison Museum I am going to the Wyoming Bankers Conference in May and this little gem is on the agenda! YAY! 4. Glow-in-the-dark Golf Tournament 5. Soldier's Angel 6. Goal Weight I'm back on track and currently about 2.5 lbs away from my goal and that awesome Bob Berg ring that Tylie said she would bribe award me with when I hit my goal weight. 7. Complete Les Mills Pump I've got...

Last year I rolled over goals into the new year and some of them I still didn't accomplish, so I'm quitting. I'm a quitter. Well maybe only a partial quitter, some of those were really good goals and I still want to do them, so I'm putting them on my 2015 list. But some of them are going to be brand new because a person always needs to grow, to become better, or in some cases, maybe slow down a little bit. In 2015, I want to will:
